Japan #20 – Kappabashi Street

Kappabashi street is ‘kitchenware town’, it’s a shopping street between Ueno and Asakusa which is lined with several dozens of specialized stores selling dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, stoves, tables, chairs, signs, lanterns and much much more.

If you are running a restaurant, you will find everything that you need in Kappabashi…well everything except for fresh food (!)

This is also the place where restaurants get plastic food samples for their display windows. Fake food is expensive though, an item will set you back $40 but I guess since it's a once off purchase I can see why they want to charge so much for it.
